Scott Wright, 2024 Chair, Director Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence, University of Saskatchewan

Scott Wright is the Director of the Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence (LFCE) at the University of Saskatchewan. Scott started his Saskatchewan career in 1983 as a Graduate Student at the U of S Termuende Farm on pasture rejuvenation and fertilization. He has been a plant breeder with Agriculture Canada in Saskatoon, working on brome and crested wheatgrass, alongside the Ecovar development program in native grasses with Ducks Unlimited. His forage work included Forage Management at the Melfort Research Station and he Co-chaired the Western forage Beef Group at Lacombe before taking on leadership roles with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Science and Technology Branch, Agri-Environment Services Branch, Research Branch and Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration), Saskatchewan Agriculture and Alberta Agriculture. Scott is delighted to carry the accountability for the LFCE and looks forward to strengthening the partnerships to support producer relevant, integrated forage and livestock research.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Elizabeth Homerosky, 2023 Past Chair, DVM,MSc, DABVP – Veterinary Agri-Health Services 

Dr. Elizabeth R. Homerosky, was born and raised on a commercial cow-calf operation in southern Ohio. Her interest in beef production led her to Ohio State where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 2008 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. In 2013, she moved to Canada and began graduate school at the University of Calgary. There she completed Master of Science and clinical residency, becoming board certified in beef cattle practice through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Dr. Elizabeth joined Veterinary Agri-Health Services, a cow-calf and feedlot consulting practice near Airdrie, Alberta in 2016,and has been a partner since 2019. In 2021, she was honored to receive the American Association of Bovine Practitioners’ James A. Jarrett Award for Young Leaders. Dr. Elizabeth is also the co-operator of Blue Rose Simmentals and raises purebred Simmental and commercial SimAngus cattle near Cremona, Alberta.
